NESARC Files Comments on Proposed Changes to CCAA Regulations and Policy

5 July 2016

(WASHINGTON, DC) — The National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition (NESARC) today filed comments on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services’ (“FWS”) proposed revisions to its Endangered Species Act (“ESA”) regulations for Candidate Conservation Agreements with Assurances (“CCAA”), and FWS and the National Marine Fisheries Service (“NMFS” and, collectively, the “Services”) draft revised CCAA Policy.

As is outlined in today’s filing, NESARC believes that CCAAs are important conservation tools that are mutually beneficial to species and property owners. It is critically important that the Services take actions to encourage the continued use of CCAAs and to ensure that their own actions do not create new barriers to CCAA development and implementation.
